Remedies You CAN Try at Home!

A lot of times when you are watching TV they advise you NOT to try this at home. Well, in this column, I want you to try these tips at home!

 

Heartburn Remedy - Try Celery

If you suffer from heartburn, here is something you can try at home. Eat celery.

I don't know if you have had the occasion to be ordering appetizers and you went for some hot and spicy buffalo wings, but if you have, no doubt your order came garnished with celery sticks. This is not just for decoration. Celery mitigates heartburn! Simple as that!

Lose weight:
Drink Water and Split Entree with a friend.

If you will remember to drink a 16 to 20 oz tumbler of water 15 to 20 minutes before your meal, you will get satisfied really fast once you sit down to eat. The portions at restaurants have grown along with the plates used to serve them. You can enjoy an evening out with a friend and share an entree. You will get "full" or "satisfied" if you use the little tips above. 

Fix those shoulders:
You can do this sitting down.

A Stress Free, Simple Yoga Move - Even if you have never done a sun salutation or ever been in a yoga studio, shoulder rotations are quick and easy, yoga based solution to stressed out, sore and stiff shouldres including those that have been hunched over a computer keyboard all day.

1. Sit in a firm backed chair, hands on knees.

2. Slowly rotate your shoulers up to the ear, forward and down. Do 5 circles. Then the magic begins, reverse the direction. Up to the ears and back til your shoulder blades touch then down.

3. You can add breath as you will do automatically anyway, but deliberately inhale fully on the upward move, and exhale on the downward. Yes, do the moves sssllllooooowwwwlllllyyy.

4. Finish your shoulder rolls by keeping your torso straight up, shoulders back. You will feel great.

I do these several times a day and I thank my yoga teacher for introducing me to my shoulder girdle!

Conclusion

It's not hard to do the right thing. It's easy. But it may not always be convenient. Take care of yourself, if you don't who will?

Q - I am feeling tired sometimes in the afternoon, as it seems most people are. Any recommendations?

A - Watch what you eat for lunch. A heavy carb diet at lunch time without exercising will put most people into a catatonic state. Digestion is hard work and that is where the energy goes after a large meal. 

It's better to eat more often and eat lightly and retain some vigor for the other things at hand.

Now if its possible and convenient a 10 - 15 minute catnap in the afternoon, that can be rejuvenating.

There is no sin involved in that.
